What Is A GIC?
A Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) or term deposit is a low-risk investment that guarantees the return of your initial investment; you will earn a guaranteed rate of return for the term of your investment. You can choose to hold your GICs in a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF), or a Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA).
